1. Conditions for use of this site
This website is the official Media Resource Center of the European Office of the Church of Scientology for Public Affairs and Human Rights (the “European Office”). If you use this site, you agree to the conditions stated here. If you disagree with any of these conditions, please do not use the site.
We may update these conditions at any time; the version published on this page applies to all uses after its publication. Using the site after changes are posted means you accept them, so please check this page from time to time. The date of the latest revision appears at the top of the page.
2. Operator and contact (service provider information)
This site is operated by the European Office of the Church of Scientology for Public Affairs and Human Rights (Oficina Europea de la Iglesia de Scientology para Asuntos Públicos y Derechos Humanos), a Spanish religious association (asociación) with registered office at Calle del Prado 27, 5º Izda, 28014 Madrid, Spain, and an operational office at Boulevard de Waterloo 103, 1000 Brussels, Belgium. It is registered with the Special Registry of Religious Entities of the Spain Ministry of Justice under No. 024742 (entry of 28 June 2019) and with the EU Transparency Register under No. 872253227782-36. Its legal representative is its President, Ivan Arjona-Pelado.
In accordance with Article 11 of the EU Digital Services Act (Regulation (EU) 2022/2065), you can contact us quickly and directly by electronic means at contactinfo@scientologyeurope.org, or by post at the addresses above.
3. License and restrictions on use
All material of any nature found on this site — whether textual, visual, audio, part of a database, media, an icon or general information — is owned by or licensed to the European Office, and is protected by copyright and related rights. Certain marks and materials are used under license from their owners (see section 4).
You are granted a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to view the material on this site and to download and print it solely for your own non-commercial, personal use, unless stated otherwise in connection with specific content.
For media personnel: unless stated otherwise in connection with specific materials, the European Office grants permission to reproduce press releases, photographs and other press materials from this site for use in traditional public news media, with credit to the “European Office of the Church of Scientology for Public Affairs and Human Rights”.
You may not use this site, or information found on it (including the names and addresses of those who submitted information), for any commercial purpose, and you may not distribute, transmit, transfer, sell, rent, loan, sublicense or reproduce the material, or permit another to do so, except as specifically permitted by this license.
Photos and videos from this site may not be used in any unlawful manner, with any obscene, defamatory or otherwise objectionable or inappropriate content that reflects negatively upon the European Office or any entity associated with it, in any parody or satire of the same, or to endorse or suggest a false relationship with any third party. We retain sole discretion to limit, deny or revoke this license at any time.
4. Trademarks
SCIENTOLOGY, DIANETICS, the SCIENTOLOGY symbol, the SCIENTOLOGY CROSS, SCIENTOLOGY VOLUNTEER MINISTER symbol, HUBBARD, L. RON HUBBARD and related marks are trademarks and service marks owned by Religious Technology Center, Los Angeles, California, USA, and are used with permission. SCIENTOLOGIST is a collective membership mark owned by Religious Technology Center indicating membership in a church of Scientology. The European Office is an independent Spanish legal entity and is not the owner of these marks.
THE WAY TO HAPPINESS and the “Road & Sun” design are trademarks owned by L. Ron Hubbard Library and are used with permission. CCHR and the CCHR logo are trademarks of Citizens Commission on Human Rights; NARCONON, CRIMINON, APPLIED SCHOLASTICS and ABLE marks are owned by the Association for Better Living and Education International; the Foundation for a Drug-Free World logo and the United for Human Rights and Youth for Human Rights logos are owned by their respective organizations; all are used with permission. Nothing on this site grants any right to use these marks.
5. Content: press material and third-party sites
Materials on this site are provided for general information and press purposes. While we work to keep them accurate and current, they are provided “as is”, without warranties of any kind, and may be updated or removed at any time. Certain photographs or footage may be illustrative.
This site links to third-party websites (for example scientologynews.org, scientology.tv, scientology.org and freedommag.org) and may embed their content. We do not operate those sites and are not responsible for their content or their data-protection practices; their own terms and privacy notices apply.
6. Illegal content: notice and action (EU Digital Services Act, Art. 16)
This is an editorial website: it publishes its own press material and does not host content uploaded by the general public. Should you nevertheless consider that any content on this site is illegal under EU or national law, you may notify us under the notice-and-action mechanism of Article 16 of the Digital Services Act.
Send your notice to contactinfo@scientologyeurope.org (or by post to the addresses in section 2), stating: (a) a sufficiently substantiated explanation of why you consider the content illegal; (b) the exact URL and clear identification of the content; (c) your name and email address (unless the notice concerns an offence referred to in Articles 3 to 7 of Directive 2011/93/EU); and (d) a statement of your good-faith belief that the information is accurate and complete.
Notices are processed in a timely, diligent, non-arbitrary and objective manner. Where a notice contains the elements above, it is deemed to give rise to actual knowledge for the purposes of Article 6 of Directive 2000/31/EC. We will inform you of our decision and of the possibilities for redress available to you. Complainants may also turn to the competent Digital Services Coordinator of their EU Member State or to certified out-of-court dispute-settlement bodies under Article 21 of the DSA.
7. Data protection
Personal data collected through this site (for example via contact forms or email) is processed in accordance with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the Spanish Organic Law 3/2018 on the Protection of Personal Data and the guarantee of digital rights (LOPDGDD), and our Privacy Statement, available from the link at the bottom of every page. That statement explains what we collect, the legal bases, retention periods and your rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability and objection.
8. Liability
To the extent permitted by applicable law, the European Office is not liable for any damage arising from the use of, or inability to use, this site or its materials, nor for the content of third-party websites linked from it. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under mandatory EU, Spanish or national consumer-protection law.
9. Applicable law and jurisdiction
These terms are governed by the laws of Spain, without prejudice to Regulation (EU) 2022/2065 (Digital Services Act), which applies directly, and to the mandatory consumer-protection provisions of the EU Member State in which you reside. Disputes fall to the courts of Madrid, Spain, unless mandatory law provides another competent forum (including the courts of your own Member State if you are a consumer).

3. Licencia y restricciones de uso
Todo el material de cualquier naturaleza que se encuentre en este sitio —ya sea textual, visual, sonoro, parte de una base de datos, multimedia, un icono o información general— es propiedad de la Oficina Europea o se utiliza bajo licencia, y está protegido por derechos de autor y derechos afines. SCIENTOLOGIST es una marca colectiva de afiliación titularidad de Religious Technology Center que indica la pertenencia a una iglesia de Scientology. La Oficina Europea es una entidad jurídica española independiente y no es titular de estas marcas.

6. Contenido ilícito: mecanismo de notificación y actuación (Ley de Servicios Digitales, art. 16)

Las notificaciones se tramitan de manera diligente, no arbitraria y objetiva. Cuando una notificación contiene los elementos anteriores, se considera que confiere conocimiento efectivo a los efectos del artículo 6 de la Directiva 2000/31/CE. Le informaremos de nuestra decisión y de las vías de recurso disponibles. También puede acudir al Coordinador de Servicios Digitales competente de su Estado miembro de la UE o a los órganos certificados de resolución extrajudicial de litigios conforme al artículo 21 de la LSD.
7. Protección de datos
Los datos personales recabados a través de este sitio (por ejemplo, mediante formularios de contacto o correo electrónico) se tratan conforme al Reglamento General de Protección de Datos (RGPD), a la Ley Orgánica 3/2018, de Protección de Datos Personales y garantía de los derechos digitales (LOPDGDD), y a nuestra Declaración de Privacidad, accesible desde el enlace al pie de cada página. En ella se explica qué datos recogemos, las bases jurídicas, los plazos de conservación y sus derechos de acceso, rectificación, supresión, limitación, portabilidad y oposición.

9. Legislación aplicable y jurisdicción
Estas condiciones se rigen por la legislación española, sin perjuicio del Reglamento (UE) 2022/2065 (Ley de Servicios Digitales), de aplicación directa, ni de las disposiciones imperativas de protección de los consumidores del Estado miembro de la UE en que resida. Los litigios se someterán a los juzgados y tribunales de Madrid, España, salvo que una norma imperativa prevea otro fuero competente (incluidos los tribunales de su propio Estado miembro si usted es consumidor).
